ABOUT THE CHURCH FUND
Q. Why should I make a four-year pledge to the Church Fund?
The four-year pledge program is our primary source for paying the monthly note for our Church complex.
Q. I just committed to a future recognition opportunity (iconography). Should I still make a four-year pledge?
Yes. The future recognition opportunities (Level II opportunities) will help to furnish the Church. The four-year pledge program and the Level I recognition opportunities (also payable over four years) are paying for the monthly note financing actual construction costs.
Q. What if I have already pledged during the “Bridging the Gap” campaign?
That pledge has helped us to get to this point. Please consider renewing and/or extending your four-year pledge for the new Church Complex.
Q. Is there a minimum pledge requirement?
No. Pledge as much as you are able. We need everyone’s involvement to complete our new Church Complex.
Q. When should I make my pledge?
As soon as you can. Construction is starting.
Q. What will the Greek Orthodox Enclave consist of?
The Enclave will consist of a permanent sanctuary dedicated to St. Basil the Great, the St. Efstathios Chapel, the Diamantaras Administration Building, a bell tower, a platea (square) and memorial gardens.
Q. How many people will the church and chapel hold?
The church will have seating for over 400 people. The chapel is based on a traditional design with 20 stasidia (chairs) along the walls and standing room in the center.
Q. What will the construction cost?
The construction budget as approved by the November 11, 2007, Parish General Assembly is $3.8 million, excluding iconography.
Q. How much money will the Parish have to borrow?
The April 15, 2007, Parish General Assembly approved a maximum total debt of $3,250,000. At that time the parish still owed about $900,000 from the original construction of the George J. Kostas Educational Building, which has since been paid off. The GDC is conducting an aggressive fundraising campaign to minimize the amount the parish has to borrow.
